Study Skills

I help students develop effective study skills by focusing on organization, time management, note-taking, and learning how to study efficiently rather than longer. My approach is flexible and personalized, helping students identify what works best for their learning style, attention span, and academic demands. I support skills such as planning assignments, breaking down large tasks, preparing for exams, and building consistent routines, while also addressing motivation and confidence. This approach is especially helpful for students balancing multiple classes, extracurriculars, or those who feel overwhelmed and want clearer strategies for success.
Swimming

Swimming

I have 17 years of swimming experience, including competitive training, and previously served as a team captain, building a strong technical and leadership foundation in the sport. I work with competitive youth swimmers, babies, and individuals learning or refining all four strokes, meeting each swimmer where they are. My teaching style emphasizes gentle progression, clear drills, and strong fundamentals, helping swimmers build confidence, strength, and efficient technique step by step. I am familiar with competitive swimming rules and enjoy helping swimmers improve endurance, refine form, and increase speed safely.
Theater

Theater

I have 16 years of musical theatre experience in productions including Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, Sweeney Todd, Anastasia, and Mary Poppins, as well as performance roles including Chiffon (Little Shop of Horrors), Tanya (Mamma Mia!), and Calliope (Xanadu). My strengths include belty, character-driven singing alongside a classical soprano 1 foundation, demonstrated through vocal line and ensemble work in shows like Phantom of the Opera, Les Misérables, and Sweeney Todd. I currently train in classical voice with Shannon Jennings and have studied acting and vocal technique with Jodie Langel, Matt Morgan, Marc Kudisch, and Andrew Cao. I also coach musical theatre dance foundations, with experience in musical theatre movement, beginner tap, contemporary, lyrical, intermediate ballet, jazz, and intermediate hip-hop, emphasizing coordination, musicality, and stage presence.
United States History

United States History

I have completed multiple college-level U.S. history courses, including U.S. history from the 1800s onward and coursework focused on race and ethnicity in the United States. I am particularly strong in the government and civics aspects of U.S. history, emphasizing how institutions, laws, and policies developed over time. I teach through primary documents and landmark court cases as a strategic alternative to memorization, helping students understand historical cause, effect, and continuity. I passed the Civic Literacy Exam with a 100, reflecting a strong understanding of U.S. governance and constitutional principles.
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I help students expand their vocabulary in ways that feel natural, meaningful, and immediately useful across reading, writing, speaking, and test-taking. My approach emphasizes context, roots, prefixes and suffixes, word families, and usage, helping students truly understand words rather than memorize lists. I work with a wide range of learners, from elementary students building foundational language, to advanced readers and writers, to students preparing for standardized tests, academic writing, or public speaking. I also support English learners and multilingual students by connecting vocabulary to culture, context, and real-life application, building confidence and long-term language fluency.
Voice (Music)

Voice (Music)

I specialize in stylistic and character-driven singing for musical theatre and classical voice. My teaching is sensation- and style-based rather than piano- or theory-driven, helping students understand vocal coordination through imagery, reflection, and physical awareness. I focus on intentional manipulation of airflow, resonance, and vowels across styles while maintaining vocal health. This approach works especially well for singers who learn best through embodiment rather than note-matching.
Volleyball

Volleyball

I have extensive experience in indoor court volleyball, specializing as a libero and defensive specialist (DS). I trained with OVA and Top Select Volleyball, developing strong skills in passing, serve receive, court awareness, and defensive communication. I also worked as an assistant coach with the YMCA, supporting skill development, drills, and team fundamentals. I am known for an accurate, ace-achieving underhand serve and emphasize footwork, reaction time, reading hitters, and confident defensive play.
World History

World History

I have a strong academic background in World History, including AP World History, with a deep interest in how civilizations, belief systems, trade networks, and power structures develop and interact across time. My approach emphasizes global context, helping students understand connections between regions rather than studying societies in isolation. I enjoy working with primary sources, comparative timelines, and thematic analysis to make history meaningful and memorable rather than rote. I support students in building critical thinking, writing skills, and historical perspective across standard, honors, and AP-level coursework.
Writing

Writing

I support students across many forms of writing, including academic, creative, analytical, and public speech writing, with experience shaped by AP Language, AP Literature, and college-level coursework. I help with essay structure, argument development, clarity, revision, and proofreading, and am comfortable working in APA, MLA, and Chicago style depending on academic or professional needs. My background includes writing research papers, reflective and analytical essays, and preparing speeches and presentations, drawing on storytelling, evidence, and clear organization. I also share a wide range of resources, strategies, and examples, helping students strengthen their writing process from brainstorming to final polish while building confidence and voice.

Zainab went above and beyond to improve my career brand!

Out of five tutors who responded to my request for help developing a résumé, CV, and LinkedIn profile, Zainab stood out from the crowd. Her Messages were thorough, including helpful tips before I even booked a session with her. She showed up to the lesson prepared with rewritten versions of my rough drafts. She gave overarching guidelines for future changes. And she was tactful enough to write down what not to include without directly pointing out what I did wrong. If you need help making the best impression for an admissions committee or a hiring manager, she's who you want to hire!
