Hi there! My name is Haiyang. I have been teaching flute lessons since 2014 and enjoy sharing my love and knowledge of music through online teaching. I started playing the flute in 1999, and since then, music has been an important part of my journey. I acquired my Master of Music degree in Flute Performance at Florida State University, where I also taught flute lessons and music classes as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Prior to that, I taught at a number of public secondary schools as well as my private studio in Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area, and received my Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance at the University of North Texas.
As a teacher, I value the students' uniqueness and work collaboratively with them in setting goals and plans while they progress at their own pace. My goal is to instill confidence by celebrating their successes and acknowledging their accomplishments. When students have setbacks, I encourage them to keep trying and offer new ideas to assist them in working through their challenges. As a musician, I love sharing my appreciation of music and skills of flute playing. I aim to bring out the musicality within each player.
I look forward to meeting and growing with my students together as musicians.
