Hello! My name is Dana and I am originally from Annapolis, Maryland. I just moved to Tallahassee for graduate school and immediately fell in love with this city and the people. Most people know me as a musician and performer, but what they might not know is I also love school!! I am particularly excited by music, history, and writing. In my undergraduate degree, I received high marks on all of my History and English papers. My three favorite classes were early music history, Russian history, and Russian language. By sudying a second language, I learned more about the English language, grammar, and the process of language learning. Because I myself started from the very beginning with Russian, I feel like this has equipped me with the skills, patience, and understanding to help non-native speakers and young children hone their language skills.
I am also very passionate about music. I chose to pursue my graduate degree in music because I love to perform, but also because I enjoy being a student. I am excited when I learn new things from my private teacher, so one of my goals as a student and as a musician is to pass on the tradition of classical music to a younger generation.
I have taught both piano and violin privately, and now I am a graduate assistant in studio teaching at FSU. If you are interested in lessons or tutoring, I would be thrilled to hear from you!
