About Marie

Bio

I have taught Pre-Algebra and Algebra as a certified teacher for over 6 years but have tutored students from Elementary age through College Algebra since 2014. I left professional teaching in Jan 2017 to help with family medical needs so my availability has become more flexible as I now work remotely from home.

Since the emphasis on Math has drastically increased across the State, I take pride in making sure students find ways to be successful even when it may seem hopeless.

I left professional teaching in Jan 2017 to help with family medical needs so my availability has become more flexible as I now work remotely from home.

Since the emphasis on Math has drastically increased across the State, I take pride in making sure students find ways to be successful even when it may seem hopeless.

It is important to show students ways to become more confident in their skills through differentiating instruction and providing tools (such as ways to study math) that will allow them to no longer need a tutor.

After working with students in Kindergarten, I understand the need for repetition, patience and finding ways to encourage during the learning process.

When the average person talks about math it usually comes with a negative experience yet we are surrounded by math in everyday life. My goal is to try and remove that negative experience. Although I may not be able to make Math your favorite subject, I will try my hardest to make it understandable.

I've worked with students from grades 6-Freshman in college in math both inside the classroom professionally as well as through one-on-one practice. I am quite familiar with the material needed to review for the GED math portion but I also come prepared with additional resources during our sessions. When preparing for testing, I try to work on the topics specifically but also reviewing testing strategies within different question styles.

Perfect fit

My daughter is a bit shy and doesn’t like to speak up. Marie had a kind spirit about her that put my daughter at ease. She came off the call all smiles and feeling more confident in her Algebra assignments.Marie was very flexible in her schedule and went above and beyond what I expected.

Great Teacher and Coach

I was in a dire situation. My daughters Tutor had been out for over a month because she had a death in her family. I reached out on Wyzant for assistance. Marie responded in 10 mins and jump in a session with us. Her teaching style was so easy for my daughter to understand she didn’t give my daughter answers, she allowed her to figure it out while coaching her through the process. We are now signed up for tutoring with Maria and I am so excited and so happy about my daughter’s growth with her!!!
