My name is Chad, and I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida International University with a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. I am now pursuing a Master of Accounting with a concentration in Taxation at Florida State University. Alongside my studies, I work as a bookkeeper for a small accounting firm where I apply financial accounting principles and use QuickBooks every day. Because I am a recent graduate who is still in the classroom, the core concepts of my accounting and business coursework remain fresh and in constant use.
Although I am new to formal tutoring, I understand what effective tutoring looks like from the student's side. As a student-athlete balancing athletic commitments with challenging coursework, I relied on one-on-one tutoring for my most challenging classes. The tutors who helped me the most reviewed the material before each session, worked through homework alongside me, and stepped in with explanations when I got stuck. Once I understood the reasoning, I could solve similar problems on my own and come back when I needed more support.
I plan to tutor the same way. I will review the relevant material before each session, then work through problems one-on-one with the student, asking questions to find where their understanding is rather than simply giving answers to problems. My goal is to help students gain the confidence to work independently. I am best suited for college students and adult learners studying accounting and business, as well as anyone learning bookkeeping or QuickBooks, and I am eager to help them succeed in their homework, quizzes, and tests. I am also open to helping high school students studying accounting, economics, and business.
