I am a Biology major at Florida State University and currently work as a Learning Assistant, where I help college students understand challenging chemistry concepts, work through problems, and become more confident with the material.
I primarily tutor General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and MCAT Chemical and Physical Foundations. I earned a 131 in the C/P section of the MCAT, and one of the main things I emphasize when teaching is understanding why something works and learning the core principles that can be applied across many different types of problems.
In General Chemistry, I can help with topics like stoichiometry, equilibrium, acids and bases, thermodynamics, kinetics, electrochemistry, and other commonly difficult areas.
In Organic Chemistry, I focus on helping students understand the underlying principles that reactions and problems are built on. Rather than treating each reaction as something separate to memorize, I help students recognize the patterns and ideas that carry across different questions so they can reason through unfamiliar problems more confidently.
For MCAT C/P, I can help with both content review and passage-based problem solving, including calculations, dimensional analysis, and figuring out what a question is actually testing. I know how easy it is to get caught up in the details of a passage, so I like to focus on identifying the key information and using the underlying science to work through questions efficiently.
I try to make tutoring sessions relaxed, practical, and tailored to the student. I am happy to work through specific homework or practice problems, review a difficult topic before an exam, or help develop a better overall approach to a class or the MCAT. My goal is for students to leave a session understanding the material better and feeling more confident tackling similar problems on their own.
