Hi! I'm a senior at Florida State University majoring in psychology with a minor in education. I plan to teach in a classroom after graduation and eventually pursue school psychology. That combination shapes how I tutor: I care about the skills a student is working on, and also about how they feel while learning.
I started tutoring in high school and have worked one-on-one with elementary and middle school students through volunteer programs and privately. Most of my experience is in reading, with some math.
My approach: My psychology and education coursework taught me that kids learn best when they feel safe, supported, and successful. So I start by figuring out where a student is getting stuck, then break the work into small, achievable steps. I pay attention to confidence and motivation, because a student who believes they can do it is far more likely to keep trying. For reading, I focus on comprehension and building a positive relationship with books. For math, I use practice problems and games to make concepts like [fractions, multiplication, etc.] feel less intimidating.
What to expect: Sessions are patient, encouraging, and matched to your child's pace. I can help with homework, review skills they're struggling with, or build study habits. I'm happy to keep parents updated on what we worked on and how it's going.
My goal is for every student to leave a session feeling more capable and more excited about learning!
