Hello! My name is Reagan, and I am an experienced language tutor with 5+ years of experience. I am a recent graduate of Florida State University, and received my Bachelor's Degree in Classical Archaeology with a minor in Museum Studies and Cultural Heritage. I graduated Summa Cum Laude and with two honors distinctions. Due to my extensive classical education, I have 12+ years of Latin experience and 3+ years of Italian experience. My job as an archaeologist requires frequent trips to Italy, and over the years I have become a near native speaker. I began Latin at 8 years old, and have continued to study it throughout college. I was a member of Eta Sigma Phi (Ancient Greek/Latin Honors Society), and I plan to continue studying it throughout my career in higher education. English is my native language, and I have substantial knowledge of advanced english grammar from my many years of Latin. I am currently enrolled in a Master's Program at FSU, where I host a weekly class for other graduate students planning to take their comprehensive exam in Italian. I have been tutoring for several years, beginning in high school and most recently at Florida State University where I tutored both English and Italian to undergraduate students of all levels. As such, I am very confident in my languages and teaching skills in English, Italian, and Latin.
In regard to methodology, all of my language tutoring begins the same way. My lessons always start with a low stakes diagnostic "quiz" of sorts, where I will gage your level, and determine our course for our lessons. Within the diagnostic, we will discuss what your goals are and what you hope to achieve with this language - whether it be a hobby or to pass a class. Based on this information, I will create a lesson plan for us to follow, which will integrate materials that the student may be using in their current course load, or ones that I supplement myself. Together, we will chart the best course for your goals! I look forward to working with you.
