I am a Florida-certified secondary English Language Arts teacher and a Teach For America alumni, with over six years of classroom and instructional experience spanning both domestic and international settings. I currently teach middle school ELA in Florida, where I guide students through reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary development, analytical writing, and literary analysis on a daily basis. Prior to my current role, I lived in Rome, Italy, where I taught English as a Second Language to students of varying ages and proficiency levels at a language school. That experience gave me a unique ability to simplify complex language concepts and communicate them clearly to any learner.
In my classroom, I use a student-centered approach that combines structured lesson planning with flexibility to meet individual needs. I regularly assess where students are, identify skill gaps, and adjust my instruction accordingly. I have worked with students who are below grade level in reading, students preparing for standardized tests including the SAT and ACT, and English language learners building foundational skills. My methods include scaffolded writing instruction, close reading strategies, and vocabulary-building techniques that translate well into one-on-one and small group tutoring settings.
I hold a bachelor's degree in English from Skidmore College, and a valid Florida teaching certification in secondary ELA. I am available in Tallahassee (relocating from Jacksonville) for in-person and online tutoring and welcome the opportunity to help your student grow.
