I am a Florida-certified secondary English Language Arts teacher and a Teach For America alumni, with over six years of classroom and instructional experience spanning both domestic and international settings. I currently teach middle school ELA in Florida, where I guide students through reading comprehension, grammar, vocabulary development, analytical writing, and literary analysis on a daily basis. Prior to my current role, I lived in Rome, Italy, where I taught English as a Second Language to students of varying ages and proficiency levels at a language school. That experience gave me a unique ability to simplify complex language concepts and communicate them clearly to any learner.

In my classroom, I use a student-centered approach that combines structured lesson planning with flexibility to meet individual needs. I regularly assess where students are, identify skill gaps, and adjust my instruction accordingly. I have worked with students who are below grade level in reading, students preparing for standardized tests including the SAT and ACT, and English language learners building foundational skills. My methods include scaffolded writing instruction, close reading strategies, and vocabulary-building techniques that translate well into one-on-one and small group tutoring settings.

I hold a bachelor's degree in English from Skidmore College, and a valid Florida teaching certification in secondary ELA. I am available in Tallahassee (relocating from Jacksonville) for in-person and online tutoring and welcome the opportunity to help your student grow.

Approved Subjects

ACT English

ACT English

I am a Florida-certified secondary ELA teacher with over six years of classroom experience teaching grammar, rhetoric, reading comprehension, and analytical writing to students in grades six through twelve. I spent two years teaching English as a Second Language in Rome, Italy, which gave me a deep understanding of how to break down English language rules clearly for any learner. In college I spent all four years tutoring local high school students for ACT and SAT testing. I teach the same skills the ACT English section tests every day in my classroom, including punctuation, sentence structure, transitions, and passage organization. My approach focuses on identifying each student's specific weak areas through diagnostic practice and building targeted strategies that turn those weaknesses into consistent points on test day.
ACT Reading

ACT Reading

I'm a Florida-certified 6–12 ELA teacher with a BA in English from Skidmore College and several years of classroom experience teaching close reading, argumentation, and analytical thinking. SAT and ACT Reading rewards a specific skill set — recognizing trap answers, using passage evidence, and reading for structure rather than detail — and I teach those strategies explicitly so students can apply them under time pressure. I'm especially effective with students who have ADHD or struggle with test anxiety, and I adapt my pacing and approach to each student's learning style. My goal isn't just a higher score; it's helping you actually understand how the test works.

SAT Writing

SAT Writing

I'm a Florida-certified 6–12 ELA teacher with a BA in English from Skidmore College and several years of classroom experience teaching grammar, conventions, and analytical writing. SAT Writing rewards students who understand the rules — pronoun agreement, parallel structure, modifier placement, transition logic, and concision — and I teach those rules explicitly so students can apply them quickly under time pressure. I'm especially effective with students who have ADHD or test anxiety, and I tailor my pacing to each student's processing style. My goal is for students to leave understanding the conventions, not just memorizing answers to practice questions.
