Hello students and parents! My name is Riane and I am a seasoned tutor and college student! I have always excelled as a student and have always enjoyed the learning process, especially when it takes some work to find answers! Some of my proudest academic achievements include graduating high school a year early, getting my first college certification at 16 years old, and having my first book published at 18! Now I am pursuing a dual degree in Public Health and Chinese with minors in Sociology and International Affairs.
I have experience tutoring students in the 12-24 year age range, but I am also confident in tutoring older college students! I specialize in tutoring English skills (reading, writing, and comprehension) as I am a published author and soon-to-be published researcher. I also love tutoring social studies courses as all of my college majors and minors fall under that category! Beyond those topics, I have experience tutoring math up to college-level Precalculus, science courses through college-level Biology 2, and various major/minor-specific courses.
I found joy in tutoring other students in middle school and have continued to do so throughout my educational career. I previously tutored informally and ran an educational website dedicated to mentoring students. This past year, I began working as a Learning Assistant (a student tutor) at my university after being scouted while staying after class to help one of my classmates understand a particular concept in our Precalculus class. I truly believe that every student is capable of learning effectively as long as they find a way to love the learning process; this is the philosophy I use to tutor my students. I emphasize finding effective strategies custom to each learner so that they are able to get the most out of their classes and study time. I love working with the student to find out what exactly works for them, and more importantly, what doesn't! Confidence is the key to increasing learning capacity!
