Math and Science Tutor Helping Struggling Students

I’m currently a student at Florida State University where I’ve gotten As in all my classes and am extensively involved in undergraduate research. I’ve been awarded multiple grants, scholarships, honors, and awards during my undergraduate career and will be progressing to graduate school in the fall of 2026.

I was homeschooled with very limited academic instruction. When I took my first formal STEM course at a local community college, remedial algebra, the most advanced math I knew was multiplying and dividing fractions and I had never written more than a paragraph. After receiving a D on my first exam, I started working with a tutor. She helped me immensely. She taught me how to solve problems effectively and apply what I learned during lectures. While working with her I got an A on all of the remaining exams and finished the class with an A. After learning how to learn from the ground up, I’ve gotten an A in every science and math class I’ve ever taken.

Having worked as a tutor at Florida State University for over 500 hours, I focus on helping students in organic chemistry and general physics. I’ve tutored for over a year with experience teaching fellow college students in one-on-one, group, and walk-in tutoring, online and in person. Illustrating the benefits students have gained from working with me, one of my organic chemistry students recently mentioned to me that she had gotten a 28 out of 100 on her first exam, had come to me for tutoring, built her confidence, study skills, and course knowledge through our sessions, and then gotten As on all of her subsequent exams.
