In college, I majored in special education with a focus on deaf studies. Before becoming a home schooling parent, I tutored for over four years and prior to that was a classroom teacher and substitute teacher. I'm a Florida certified educator in multiple content areas and currently working as a sign language interpreter.
I am willing to provide information for submission to Step Up for Students or tutoring reimbursement programs if you need it.
In my sessions, I like to assess the underlying misunderstandings and strengths first. Then I can use that information to fill in any gaps in prerequisite knowledge and capitalize on strengths and interests. Following each session, I will provide you with a summary of the session activities.

Please note that I do have a 12-hour cancellation policy, but do have flexible scheduling.

I love helping others especially with language arts topics. My attention to detail is especially helpful in proofreading. I completed introductory ESOL courses in college in addition to my coursework on teaching students with American Sign Language as a first language. I also have a Florida Educator Certificate in English 6-12, ESE K-12, Deaf Education K-12, and Earth-Space Science 6-12.

I would love to help you with your work or help your student. Please contact me today to discuss scheduling a session!

I received training in phonics instruction in college. We used the material we learned to tutor students in a Title I school. Since then, I have taught my son to read in his home education program.

I have a keen sense of detail for errors in written English. For more than four years, I have been proofreading essays for others.
