I am an incoming medical student with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Behavior and a Master of Education from the University of Notre Dame, where I graduated cum laude with a 3.84 GPA. I am also a certified teacher of English as a New Language and of Science and Mathematics at the elementary level. My academic background spans the sciences, education, and research, including an undergraduate thesis on physiological regulation and a neuroscience elective course I independently designed and taught to high school seniors. This combination of rigorous science training and formal teaching credentials makes me uniquely equipped to tutor students in SAT/ACT prep, math, biology, and chemistry.
I have over six years of teaching experience across a wide range of settings, ages, and contexts. As a full-time middle school teacher through Notre Dame's Alliance for Catholic Education, I taught math and science daily to 7th and 8th graders in a Title I school in Atlanta, managing a classroom of 35 students. I later taught English Language Arts to 90 sixth graders in Santiago, Chile, where all instruction was delivered as English as a new language. Most recently, I served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant at Notre Dame, mentoring 35 educators in evidence-based instructional strategies. These experiences have given me a deep toolkit of pedagogical approaches that I adapt to each individual student.
My tutoring style is patient, structured, and student-centered. Whether working one-on-one or in small groups, I focus on building genuine understanding rather than rote memorization, helping students develop the confidence and critical thinking skills they need to perform independently. I am currently available for in-person (and/or virtual) tutoring in South Bend, Indiana.
