Hello! My name is Alexander G. I have my BA and MA in Mathematics, and some work completed towards a PhD in mathematics in the University of Missouri system; my focus in pure mathematics is on Algebra. I love math more than just about anything, and I wish to help other people feel the same way about it. Even if that’s not possible, I hope to help people be a little less afraid of math. I’ve worked as a teacher and a tutor for over seven years, and I was raised by a teacher. My most recent experience was as a high school math teacher here in the state of Florida, so I know the importance of having a good instructor.
I create personalized materials and am ready to tutor a variety of math subjects at any level. I know that everyone has different backgrounds in math; because of that, I am willing to meet students wherever they are in their attitudes towards math.
Insofar as personal policies go, I do require at least one day (24 hours) notice before cancellations of any tutoring sessions. Of course, this requirement is waived for sudden emergencies. I expect students to complete the work I assign them and to come prepared to every tutoring session (i.e. pencils/pens, paper, notebooks, calculators if the student needs one). I will accept students regardless of age; if you are wanting to learn math, then I will help you. Lastly, I can meet virtually if distance/travelling are an issue for you or your student. Contact me through Wyzant’s messaging system if you would like to learn more or have more questions.
