Hello! I have an Applied Mathematics BS (GPA: 3.68) from the Florida Institute of Technology. I received my AA from IRSC (GPA: 3.97), where I started at when I was 14. I've tutored calculus, algebra, trigonometry, and more (in IRSC's Math Lab, ASC, and classrooms). My SAT superscore was 1500, with approximately equal performance in the math and reading section, which placed me in the 98th/99th percentile. I have tutored high school algebra privately, tutored English to kindergarteners, and I held an additional job as a math instructor at Mathnasium (actually, two different Mathnasiums!). I am currently a college-level math tutor at IRSC again, and have been for a couple years now.
I've been offered full merit scholarships at multiple universities (including FIT), and I thank my Mom's homeschooling me, and always pushing me to be more. I hope to be that kind of excellent educator, mentor, and unconditional support in someone else's life.
When I tutor, I try to figure out where the student is at, and what the last thing they understood was. I seek to sequentially build on that, and I write down any theorems I reference, so that they may have clean notes that allow them to review it effectively a day, a week, or a month later. I want to help the student see that math doesn't have to be scary, and it can be fun! When I work with a student, it is always a judgement-free zone and there are never any stupid questions! I am here to help.
I look forward to meeting you! :)
