Kathleen S. K. Is an incredibly brilliant and amazing art tutor who has blown my mind more times then I can count. Her knowledge from perspective, values, anatomy, light and shadow, and portfolio pieces have expanded my art skills further then I ever would have imagined from some random person, on some random website called Wysnat! She has helped me build my portfolio massively, and practically paved the way for college and a possible future in concept art! Her explanations are crystal clear. This teacher, (unlike many others) is focused on making certain the student can understand/digest then use the information presented during each lecture going even over time to hammer/smooth out wonky subjects. Her determination for the arts and precision knows no bounds! Her passion for student growth knows neither!

Now, you proactively articulate art methods, concepts, and principles and their significance to you as an artist. Kudos! Wishing you a lifetime of creativity and every success! Sincerely, Kathleen S. K.
Very knowledgeable, detailed, and skilled art teacher!
My daughter absolutely loves and respects Ms. Kathleen! She is super patient and encouraging. She is so skilled and detailed and knows how to teach well. She connects well with my daughter too and gives her freedom to choose the direction of subject to draw while teaching her the foundations of sketching and shading. Highly recommend Kathleen!

Best AP art tutor. Highly recommend!
I cannot recommend Kathleen highly enough as an AP Art tutor. Her knowledge and expertise are unparalleled, providing my daughter with the insights and guidance she needed. Kathleen's instructions are specific and extremely useful, leading to an immediate improvement in my daughter’s AP Art grade after just a few lessons. This quick enhancement in performance speaks volumes about Kathleen's teaching effectiveness and her knack for identifying and addressing the areas where a student may need the most support. What sets Kathleen apart is not just her mastery of art but also her emphasis on instilling a strong work ethic in her students. She has taught invaluable skills, such as how to prioritize tasks and effectively schedule study time. These lessons have gone beyond just improving art skills, and I am confident this will benefit my daughter even in the future. I am immensely grateful for Kathleen’s positive impact on my kid’s AP Art journey and cannot thank her enough for her dedication and hard work. In a word, I highly recommend Kathleen to anyone in search of a knoledgeable and responsible Art tutor!
Judy, 12 lessons with Kathleen S.Tutor responded:Judy, Thank you for being a champion of all that is possible for your daughter. Through your commitment and communication, I was empowered to evaluate your daughter’s strengths and gaps as a student and artist and align our sessions in strategic, specific, and timely ways. At first as a tourniquet, then as visible progress was made, we adjusted the focus to include the AP Portfolio Exam requirements which are a whole separate focus based on the monthly Sustained Investigations. AP Program is designed to turn up the pressure for student artists. Gaps that exist just under the surface of a student artist’s life when entering AP Art could become magnified. This often presents as an unexpected burden for even the most creative and talented students (if not caught early - this could overshadow their efforts and passion for art, altogether!) While AP Art is a progressive and intense program for the right reasons, families may not be equipped given the need for curricular components with a focus on understanding composition, the illusion of depth, form, lighting, hand-eye coordination, inquiry and critical thinking skills-all of which is foundational to art and artists at this early stage in life. Thank you for being a solid bridge for your daughter and myself to communicate and be productive while giving me autonomy to dig deeper into the vital areas that strengthen an artist’s unique voice so that your daughter now experiences confidence and intentionality on up and coming projects. I am grateful as each art students’ unique success is my passion in life. Thank you for allowing me to continue to do the work that needed to be done and taking the time to write and express your perspective in this thoughtful review. I wish more parents had access to what we have and find themselves on the other side of the AP Art hurdle celebrating their kid’s success story! Every future success and joy to you and your daughter. Sincerely, Kathleen
Kathleen is a true artist tutor
Kathleen has been amazing with our son, who is high functioning on the Autism spectrum. Her ability to so intently listen to him and see everything he does with his art has led my son to feel so much more enabled to explore drawing as an expression. He's always had a hidden talent for drawing but never had the confidence or more technical skills to grow. Kathleen has turned this around - and has done so by being patient and building off the skills he has. She has been so thoughtful in how she can see how he is drawing and the various innate skills he has and is giving him the confidence and tools to build these skills. It's amazing as a parent to see someone who is trained and knowledgeable in their craft, like Kathleen, to see ability in your child and work closely to foster that skill. Her communication with us is always thorough and timely. She gives really thoughtful exercises. And probably most importantly, she has an awareness to bring out the artist in our son - not just drawing methods but is genuinely helping our son come out of his shell as an artist. As a parent, it's just amazing to see. Thank you, Kathleen!

Level Up!
I'm looking to take my watercoloring to the next level and knew after the first lesson with Kathleen that she was knowledgeable in both art and the fine art of teaching. She started with the basics, got a feel for where I was, and now I'm on an exciting journey as she hones her lessons to my needs and interests. Can't wait for our next meeting!
Paulette, 8 lessons with Kathleen S.Tutor responded:Paulette, Thank you for expressing your impressions and enthusiasm for the creative journey! I celebrate your diligence to implement a new skills across several projects, your attention to refined draftsmanship, and prolific expression - across multiple mediums! You are an illustrator at the heart! As a teacher it is invigorating to engage your energy and willingness to take on new and great challenges! Your accomplishments are stacking up and dreams are within reach! With anticipation of continued development and every creative and professional success! Kathleen
Great methods of teaching, excellent communication
I study animation and art, and her ability to communicate and also introduce certain concepts and techniques to improve my work is very clear and really helps me view art in a way that might not be as daunting. A lot of people are intimidated and/or overwhelmed with drawing/art, Kathleen is able to make it a much more exciting and experience where you see your art begin to improve through her guidance.
Aadhick, 7 lessons with Kathleen S.Tutor responded:Aadhick, It is always a pleasure to equip artists in college to accelerate in understanding of art methods and critical thinking skills needed to streamline and position for success given how quickly the semester flies! Information is power … getting access to information when we need it transforms stress into success. You are so courageous to seek academic support! Each week you arrived with a pressing challenge which keeps me on my toes… Its one thing to develop custom art education… its a whole different level to transform a student’s perspective of their abilities in 50 minutes so they can confidently achieve a whole new skill in their university experience. One of your creative passions is boxing… and our time together modeled the strategic, tactical and time critical communications a boxer receives from their coach. As you proceed through your college career into your profession as an animator … you will always have undiscovered abilities within … you are designed to see the world differently… continue to FIND teachers and mentors to tap these reservoirs - to teach in new ways , to equip you … and continue to knock-out 🥊 your best! Believing in you! Kathleen
Great experienced tutor
Kathleen is an amazing art tutor who combines practical of painting with art theory. I learnt watercolor from her and she made a plan to teach me step by step. She explained art theory well based on each of my projects and she is very right in one thing: She is not only teaching me watercolor, but also the knowledge preparing me for any paints. Kathleen is also very patient and passionate with her students, and she would keep giving suggestions on making a painting better during a class. I highly recommend her painting classes!
Eloise, 46 lessons with Kathleen S.Tutor responded:Eloise, You have progressed from intro to drawing to value, creating your own original compositions, exploring your own dreamscapes, color theory into watercolor painting (wet-into-wet, blends… using the white of the paper to influence color) … Now taking on acrylic painting mixing opaque color to create atmosphere and depth -strategically building layers… and creating from your own photography! Your concepts and creative eye suit you well for the field of illustration which you are on the cusp of! Alternatively, for your personal enjoyment, I would love to see you engage personally in the fine art world of exhibitions (where you live - the arts community) my vision for you includes being invited to communicate on an art panel discussion (where artists are given an opportunity to share their process and perspectives) some curators of exhibitions include these opportunities within the program! You have truly developed an ability to articulate the journey of each art work and the outcome of your choices and actions- this is a whole area of creative expression you can share with the world! Please know you could make a difference in other’s lives through your process, voice and storytelling. It is time to intentionally release your bouquet into the world! Looking forward to inspiring you to take this leap starting with brainstorming your interests and priorities for 2024! Much joy, ahead!! Yours truly, Kathleen
Knowledgeable and patient tutor
Kathleen is a wonderful artist and an excellent teacher. My favorite thing about our tutoring sessions is that she mixes in a combination of art theory with the actual practice of art. In this way, I am not only learning to paint, but also gaining an appreciation/understanding of the mechanics of art. Thus far, in just two tutoring sessions, I’ve created to pieces of unique art using acrylics, and also learned the use of a color wheel, mixing colors, value, primary/secondary colors, shading, blending, creating a crisp line, and brush control/techniques. Kathleen is not only very knowledgeable, but also a patient tutor. I am a very beginner beginner and she offers wonderful advice, guidance, and encouragement. Her home studio is cozy and warm, decorated with her own professional art. If you are thinking about taking classes either in person or online with Kathleen, do not hesitate to move forward. I highly recommend her art tutoring. 5-stars!!
