My last position was in the Grade 5, English, IB PYP Program in Cairo, Egypt. I was the third language teacher as the language of instruction was French, the native language was Arabic and English was the third language. After reading a book about a "bake sale", my students wanted to have a "bake sale" to help the street animals of Cairo. This was a unique experience for my students because they had never had a "bake sale" and they were not used to caring for street animals. This exemplifies who I am as a teacher, as I encourage my students to do their personal best, and to be kind and caring citizens of a global world.
Before Egypt, I taught three years in Turkey at another IB school. This time I taught grade six and had another amazing experience. I tutored students who were having difficulty learning English at this school. I created games and fun learning experiences so that the students would have positive attitudes to learning a foreign language. We laughed, we role played and we acted out situations and generally loved working together. I have fond memories of all my teaching experiences.
I have experience teaching grades 1-12. I have taught first time readers and writers and high school readers and writers.
I have taught internationally and in the USA. I have experience in Public Speaking and Counseling. I have taught advanced Literature courses and beginner's Literature courses. I am experienced and I make learning fun.
I am interested in tutoring students who want to achieve proficiency in subjects where they need a little help. I implement different techniques and I use different strategies to accommodate all types of learners. Really, learning can be fun!!
