I'm a Florida-certified English Language Arts teacher with nearly two decades of experience across middle school, high school, and gifted education, including teaching AP Literature and Composition. I currently teach 6th grade ELA at Manatee Charter School in Bradenton, where I focus on Florida B.E.S.T. standards and build strong readers through differentiated, small-group instruction. Before that, I taught 7th grade ELA at the same school and spent years teaching high school English, including AP Literature and gifted-level coursework, helping students develop the close-reading and analytical writing skills that carry them through college-level exams.
I also hold a Master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology, which shapes how I build lessons: clear, structured, and tailored to how each student actually learns, rather than one-size-fits-all worksheets. I've spent years designing curriculum and interactive learning materials for organizations ranging from universities to the U.S. Navy, so I bring both real classroom experience and a strong sense of how to break down difficult material step by step.
I love literature because of the stories themselves. The great stories aren't just entertainment — they're maps other people have left behind, showing how to face chaos, take responsibility, and grow into who we're meant to become. Every hero's journey, every fall and redemption, is really a lesson in disguise, and I want my students to learn to read them that way: not just for plot, but for what the story is trying to teach them about how to live. That's what I try to bring into every lesson, whether we're reading Poe or Steinbeck.
I'm available for tutoring after work on weekdays from 5-9 PM, as well as weekends and holidays.
