Effective and Empathetic Tutoring

With over 5 years of tutoring experience, 2 years of mentoring experience, and 12 years of coaching experience, I am a 32-year-old friendly scholar athlete who excels in connecting to all age groups. My strength is getting to my students’ “level” and helping them master a wide variety of subject areas and sports.

I have two bachelors degrees from Eastern Mennonite University: Liberal Arts and Nursing (BSN). My GPA’s were 3.80 and 3.70, respectively. My ACT score was 34. I currently work as a registered nurse, but I have a lot of experience in academic and sporting contexts.

First, my tutoring experience is with all ages, from elementary school math to ACT/SAT prep for high-achieving high school students to college applications/scholarship editing. With lots of positive feedback, my students say I am calm, motivating, and focused. My tutoring style focuses on getting to the students “level”. I love to understand their learning and communication styles, and everything is personalized to help them succeed in the highest possible fashion.

My passion to help and care for people goes beyond my RN, tutoring, and mentoring experience. In the world of sports, I have over 12 years of coaching tennis for all ages from varsity head coach to teaching professional (USPTA certified) at local clubs. I also have over 2 years of pickleball coaching experience. I am rated 4.5 in tennis and 4.25 in pickleball.

I am willing to drive up to 20 miles to meet a student at their location, libraries, a middle location, and online. My strengths include essay writing and editing, standardized test prep (ACT/SAT), and any science/math tutoring. However, I am more than happy to help out in other areas!
