I am a life long learner ready to help you rekindle your own joy for learning! I am have the brain of a well-educated scientist and the heart of an artist. I was a double major as an undergraduate at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo when I got a B.S. in Environmental Management and Protection and a B.A. in Theatre Arts. I went on to begin a M.S. in Environmental Science and Protection from the same university. I and finishing my last class for the degree this summer. I can hear that graduation waltz from here!!! I will be continuing my theatre education at Florida State University getting my second masters in Acting. I can’t get enough of school and hope to get my students to share the same passion.
I loved math in middle school and high school. Its black and white structure became one of the few constants in my ever-changing life. It was during this period that I started to develop a deep sense of identity with learning. I bring this passion into all my tutoring sessions. Turning disorientation into fuel for confidence.
I have tutored students one on one, grades elementary through high school. While at the collegiate level, I was a teachers assistant in a classroom of over 300 students. This continued for three years and I got my time one on one with these students after Covid hit, having virtual tutoring sessions for an Intro to Theater class. I also spent time as a grader for college classes in the environmental science field where my passion lies.
I find beauty in my brain that can switch quickly from science and math to creativity and artistry. This is where my strength lies as a tutor, being able to add logic to artistry or, on the flip side, creativity to formulaic approaches. As someone who has dyslexia and ADHD I also have no shame in knowing “slow and steady wins the race.” This experience gives me heightened empathy for my students. I’m confident in my keen ability to read the room, knowing what days to power through or when to pump the breaks. Let’s learn something new!
