About Nicole

Bio

I currently teach high school and college English at a truly fabulous brick and mortar high school. My undergraduate degrees are in film and English literature. My graduate degree is in educational leadership. I am certified to teach college English, as well. I am in my 28th year of teaching 6-12 English. I love reading and writing. Breaking down a great text is so much fun and I make it my goal to find stories my students thoroughly enjoy.

Creative Writing

During my 27 years of teaching, I have taught creative writing during the school day, as an after school club, and I currently sponsor our school's writers' guild. At my brick and mortar school, we are the Royal Writers' Guild and we wear crowns for our sessions. I would love it if my tutored bunch wanted to do the same.

I have a bachelor's in English literature and graduate degree credits in literature allowing me to teach college. I've taught middle and I currently teach high school English, the dual enrollment program with our local college, and AP Lang.

Literature

I have taught English literature in middle school and high school. I help students break down texts to analyze content and structure while helping them develop their critical thinking skills.
Proofreading

Proofreading

I have helped create county-wide curriculum to allow teachers to practice the state wide tests with their students. I have also participated in school-wide essay scoring. I put my own classroom students through rigorous in-class writing workshops to help them further develop their writing skills.

Writing

I tackle writing from a variety of perspectives and in a multitude of modes in class at the high school, dual enrollment, and AP Lang levels. Students know how to write, proofread, edit, and revise with ease by the time they leave my class.
