I'm the Math teacher you always wanted.

As a former math teacher I committed long age to finding a way to explain a concept that my student could understand. I get back to what makes sense to a student and then build from there. I do all of this with a sense of humor and a smile!

Slow down, it really is easy. Once we establish the base building on it is fun. My preference it to meet online. It is an incredibly powerful environment.

Standardized testing has always been a strength of mine. We will talk about strategy, when to guess and when not to guess, trust your instincts, and my 7 rules of test taking. Part of test taking success comes with feeling prepared. We can work on that.
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have both tutored individuals and been a classroom teacher for Algebra. It is a favorite subject of mine. Having fun and using real world examples are just a couple of my strengths.

I have tutored Algebra II for years. The subject is a challenge for many students. we will reinforce Algebra I subject matter and build knowledge. Fun and learning is what we do. In College Algebra? I'm the person you are looking for.
ASVAB

ASVAB

I have tutored, both in person and online, in a number of subject areas. My strong suit is math but I have covered the full range of subjects included on the ASVAB exam. Most people that need help with the exam are either very good in some areas and not so strong in others or have 'test anxiety.' We will work on both.

I always enjoyed Chemistry and found the ralationship to math understandable and exciting. I have tutored a number of students as a sideline to their math sessions. Getting the periodic table makes concepts fall apart.

I have experience preparing students for the GED. I request that we find a location that is free of distractions so we can focus. I will stick with it and find a way to explain so that a students understands why not just how!! Although my training is in Math i am competent discussing other subjects as well.

I was truly lucky to have a teacher who made Geometry real, I do that now for my students. We work hard, and have fun, as we discuss current topics.

As a teacher I assisted coworkers who were using the Praxis exam to add mathematics to the list of subjects they could teach. Our approach will start with a Study Companion and use it as our base for planning a strategy to be successful on the test. Much of the training will be crossover from other test taking skills I have developed.
Prealgebra

What a great subject!! The basis for years to come. I am experienced teaching this subject both in a classroom and 1 to 1 and have excellent skills explaining the subject in terms a student 'gets'.
Precalculus

Precalculus

Precalculus is a critical point for most students looking for more advanced studies. It doesn't matter if you're in high school or college we will approach the subjects with both fun, clarity and rigor.

Probability is such a neat subject. How many times does someone say 'what are the chances...'? Well this is how you know, for real, what the chances are. In addition the understanding of odds puts a bright light on betting and understanding how that works. It doesn't matter that you don't bet it's fun and interesting to know how odds are calculated.

I learned study skills over time from experience as a student, teacher and business professional. I enhanced these skills by taking and teaching classes on the subject. Tutoring in this area is a logical extension of this work. I find it very gratifying to be a part of a student's continued success.

Sometimes when you are studying Trig you wonder, "How did someone come up with this?" Well that's part of the joy of the subject. Although I have been very successful tutoring trig I felt a need to refresh the concepts in my mind. So I enrolled in, and completed, a review.

Amazing Tutor!

Bill has been amazing since day one. He started working with my high schooler late last year on Geometry, and we immediately saw a boost on her test scores. When the year ended, I regretted not finding him sooner! My daughter has never been crazy about math, but somehow Bill has made it fun and given her the confidence she needs. He is now our weekly tutor for Algebra 2, where he has frankly taught her more than her teacher at school. He simplifies things so she can understand difficult concepts, is patient, and is flexible with our crazy schedule. Our daughter feels more confident after every session. Thank you!!

Wonderful

Bill S. was wonderful! We hired him to help our son with a College Algebra class that he was taking through a nearby community college as a dual credit class at his high school. Unfortunately, the online class was very poorly designed and he wasn't really learning anything. When he scored a 60% on his mid-term, we realized that he wasn't going to be able to teach himself the concepts. After only four sessions with Bill, he fully understood the concepts and scored a 100% on his final exam. Thanks Bill! You are fantastic!

Bill is knowledgeable and patient.

When Bill worked with my son, he was patient and really took the time to go through things, from working on foundational stuff, to the more complex algebraic formulas. My son can be sensitive and difficult at times, but Bill's friendly and calm demeanor worked like a charm.
