I have a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in inclusive special education. I have been teaching at the high school level for 9 years. My Florida teaching certification includes ESE 9-12, ESOL endorsement, and the reading endorsement. As an ESE teacher I have worked with students in a whole-class setting, small-group setting, and one on one.
For the past 7 years, I have been pushing into 9th and 10th grade English and am familiar with the standards and testing requirements attached to those classes. In particular, I have been successful in providing instruction in essay writing skills. I emphasize the use of graphic organizers, that I’ve created, to help students clearly organize their thoughts into a well developed essay.
Additionally, I have taught classes dedicated to providing study skills, organizational skills, time management skills, and social skills to students with disabilities. These are skills all students can benefit from to be successful at the high school level and beyond.
