Hello! My name is Brielle and I am a passionate marine ecologist helping to manage seagrass in Florida Bay with geospatial analysis. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2021 with a B.S. in Biology and a focus on ecology and evolution. It was there that I found a passion for marine biology even though I was in landlocked Ohio. I took the opportunity to teach the invertebrate zoology lab during my final year and developed a passion for teaching. I also gained valuable GIS experience during my time there.
In June 2023 I graduated from Georgia Southern University with my Master's degree in Biology. My time spent in graduate school was where I developed my GIS expertise and explored my role as a community ecologist. Most of my work has been to implement and analyze remote sensing data. I also spent my free time tutoring biology undergraduates. With this experience I have a very well rounded knowledge base of marine ecology, biological writing, GIS, geochemistry, and of course, general biology.
By continuing my tutoring I hope to impart my passion for our world's beautiful coastal habitats and give students the tools for future environmental husbandry. I am also excited to teach much needed GIS skills such as data management and spatial analysis due to its unique role in biology and landscape ecology. If I can help someone meet their learning goals then it is a day well spent to me!
My tutoring strategy is typically adaptive to each student I work with, but in general I start by assessing the student's current knowledge and needs. After I have identified the next steps for a student I give them the resources they need, break down content, and review the scope of learning. This process is repeated until the student is not only confident in current materials, but is also given the tools and resources to promote knowledge building in the future.
