Dear prospective students and parents,

I am a professional violinist and teacher. I have performed in many symphony orchestras in the U.S. including the Brevard Symphony and the Space Coast Pops here in Florida. I also teach many other instruments including all the strings, violin, cello, viola, double bass viol, guitar, bass guitar banjo, mandolin, recorder, autoharp, hammer dulcimer, glockenspiel etc. In high school I became concert master of our string orchestra and won first prize in a solo competition during the high school music summer session. I also became concert master of our local junior symphony in my senior high school year. In college at the University of Oregon I became concert master of our university symphony in my junior year. I also won a Presser Foundation scholarship for solo violin playing performing the Faure violin Sonata. I was principal 2nd violin in the Black Hills Symphony when I taught strings in Rapid City South Dakota for 2 years.

I started violin at age six, and I've been teaching and performing ever since then. We had a string quartet in my family because my brother played cello, while sister Paula played viola and my sister Alice played 2nd violin.

Recently I have also began teaching music to children with autism. Music is excellent therapy for them. One of my students plays violin, one plays glockenspiel and three others play piano with me. Although my specialty and college degree is in music, I was an excellent student in other areas, which is why you might like to have me tutor English, math, or other subjects. I also like to teach fiddle music, bluegrass, folk.

Her parents have informed others at the center where she receives therapy of our success and now other parents have enlisted me to teach their autistic children. Music is great for them. I also do singing with my autistic students and we do karaoke. While my method may seem unorthodox. They get results and they work. My music background is my advantage.

Great teacher! Highly recommend

David helped me get back to the violin after a 15 year pause, he is patient and kind. He helps me tremendously by going over music theory concepts as well and has helped me gain a lot of confidence in my playing. Highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn or relearn the violin!

My Daughter Loved her Lesson

My daughter really enjoyed her lessons with David - David is very calm and supportive for a beginner flute playing 11 year old. Highly recommend to anyone looking for music lessons!

Meredith, 2 lessons with David

David clearly is a very experienced teacher of violin. I learned a lot in one lesson.

David plunged right in to teach me, and adult beginner, the basics of playing the violin. He included guidance on holding the violin and bow, the mechanics of bowing, and had me playing some simple patterns on the violin. He even helped me fix a problem I had with my bow not tightening properly. He obviously is very well versed in techniques of teaching the violin.

Great with first time adult student!

David was awesome! I had a completely untuned violin when we started and by the end of the hour I was already playing some notes. Patient and knowledgeable. It's not easy in these pandemic times with everything distanced!
