Algebra is a building subject. Each lesson builds on what was learned before. If you don't understand one of the foundational steps, you will get lost later on. Kelvin uses multiple techniques to help students understand the basics of Algebra. He has the ability to explain things in a couple different ways so that they make sense to the students.
Geometry

Geometry

Geometry is a puzzle game. Whether it is the Pythagoream Theorem or parallel lines or angles, each problem gives you enough clues to find the answer - you just need to know the tricks to unlock the puzzle. Kelvin has a unique ability to help students see the clues, learn the tricks and succeed in Geometry. He uses a number of different techniques and can explain the concepts a couple different ways, so that students understand and learn quickly.

Great Tutor!

I would highly recommend Kelvin. My son Matthew had a very poor start this year in Geometry. Thanks to Kelvin he went from a 1.5 in his first semester to a 2.6 in the second and now he is at 3.35! Plus Kelvin is always available, punctual and very professional.

Good Start

My son had his first tutoring session with Kelvin last night. He was prompt and professional. My son found him engaging and knowledgeable. A few more sessions are needed to fully assess how effective the tutoring is, but so far, he's off to a good start.

Not motivating

Not a good experience for me. I would have liked somebody with more enthusiasm to teach. Somebody that will have the wisdom to see my weakness in the subject and be more supportive and creative to work on my needs. I found him egocentric. Also, he was not ethical in terms of my hour rate/time, since apparently we went 15 min over the time without him letting me know. Therefore, he charged for those extra minutes which is correct, but it is not morally correct to keep on teaching when I hired him for an hour. This is not the way it worked out with other tutors before.
