As a tutor with both a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and a Master of Science in Biology, I bring a strong academic foundation and years of hands-on teaching experience to help students excel in science. I’ve taught a wide range of students, from elementary school through college, in both academic and extracurricular settings.

I have over four years of teaching experience, including roles as a high school biology teacher and a graduate assistant at the university level. At the university level, I have taught Biology, Microbiology, and Genetics. At the high school level, I taught College Preparation Biology, Honors Biology, and AP Biology. My experience includes full classroom instruction, one-on-one support, lab instruction, grading, and curriculum development. I also have a strong background in working with students individually, including those who need extra help building confidence and mastering foundational skills.

Outside of the classroom, I also spent 8 years teaching sailing to students ages 5 to 18, which helped me develop a flexible, patient, and engaging teaching style. I’ve learned how to adapt my approach based on age, learning style, and confidence level. These are skills that directly inform the way I tutor academic subjects.

My tutoring style is student-centered, encouraging, and focused on long-term understanding. I break complex topics into manageable pieces, use visuals and analogies to make concepts stick, and prioritize active recall and practice.
