I have taught and tutored math for 45 years. Through curricular development and the process of solid teaching practices, I have been able to diagnose my students weaknesses, whether it be conceptual or computational, and design a program that helps eliminate the obstacles to their success. I have experience teaching students from grades 3-9 with their math concepts and computation and improved their assessment results by 25-35%. I was able to improve the stanine scores of all my students on standardized tests into the 8th and 9th percentile range.
I have had the experience and the pleasure of teaching for 30 years in a departmentalized science program where I saw 94-96 students a day. The program I designed was a project based hands on program. Everything from science safety and the scientific method through basic physics including Newton's Laws of Motion. I taught students up through 8th grade in a tutorial capacity as well. I have extensive knowledge with teaching and tutoring in the sciences. As I mentioned, basic elementary science using digital microscope and other lab equipment, teaching students how to write lab reports, and tutoring students in Life Science, Earth Science, and Physics are all part of my science repertoire. Science is a passion and love of mine!
