Hello, I am Kiara! I have personally been tutoring one-on-one since I was in 7th grade. Seeing someone finally start to understand the material brings me great satisfaction and reminds me why I started tutoring in the first place. As a tutor, I not only focus on explaining the material, but I am also personally invested in the progress my students make by making a lesson plan with them and involving their support system.

Math is my strongest subject in tutoring. I absolutely love tutoring math as it is the one constant subject I have been teaching since I started tutoring. In my senior year of high school, I focused on working as a freelance tutor for the math section of the SAT/ACT for over 20 high school students living around my city, including the redesigned versions. I have also recently updated my tutoring sessions to tailor them to the digital SAT.

I was born in Peru and constantly speak Spanish at home. I am able to read, speak, and write in Spanish fluently.

I absolutely love working closely with students to meet their goals. As a tutor, I make sure to keep open communication with both the students and parents and strongly encourage both parties to reach out to me whenever as I usually provide fast replies. After taking the math portion of the ACT and obtaining a perfect score, I started a tutoring business during my senior year of high school focusing solely on math preparation for the ACT. I have since then tutored over 50+ students in my local town for the most part. I not only focus on the material within the math portion of the ACT, but I also work on the student's confidence by teaching him/her tips and tricks to perform his/her best when the test comes around.

I was placed into a special math program where I was placed two years ahead of my peers. As a result, I took Algebra 1 in 7th grade rather than 9th grade and got remarkable grades. Because of it, my math teacher back then asked me to stay after school and tutor people who were struggling with the subject. Ever since then, I have been regularly tutoring students in Algebra 1 and now have over 8 years under my belt.

After taking the math portion of the SAT and scoring in the 99th percentile, I started a tutoring business during my senior year of high school focusing solely on math preparation for the SAT. I took AP Statistics my sophomore year of high school and scored a 5. I not only teach the concepts, but also why they are that way, which, in my opinion, makes it easier to learn and later recall for the exam. For AP Stats, I also place an emphasis on the formatting of the calculations and the wording of the answer, especially for the FRQ sections, in order to gain as many points as possible. I also took an intro level statistics class in college and ended with an A in the class. Along the way, I tutored some peers in the class and helped them with understanding the subject. This class included using programming software for homework, therefore I am knowledgeable in using these types of programs.
