I have 12+ years of teaching and tutoring experience in Chemistry. I hold a Ph. D. degree in Bio-Organic Chemistry which followed a B. Sc. double major with honors in Pure and Food Chemistry. For the past 8 years, I've tutored high school and college students mainly in General Chemistry, and I also do Organic Chemistry. I am certified in "Effective Teaching Practices", a 2-semester course offered by the Association of College and University Educators.

Students like to get directly to knowing what they need to complete a question accurately. What I have done to help with that, is create and organize my own notes and handouts for a variety of topics. The handouts contain steps involved, key information, and major focus areas. I use Kahoot! quizzes sometimes to check understanding and stress real world applications so the topic has a more practical effect. I equip students with the ability to analyse their answers to see how reasonable they are.

During any session, I work at the student's pace so that he/she feels relaxed. I've also tutored small groups of 3-5 persons, in which they bounce ideas off each other and build community. My sessions are engaging and allow students to ask as many questions to get clarity. That helps me to see the how the person is thinking and allows me to redirect when necessary and give pointers. I'm very thorough in explaining what's being done and why.

My love for tutoring/teaching comes from wanting to help others. I enjoy seeing people have light bulb moments and overcome hurdles in their education. I respond quickly to questions and am ready to provide the tools necessary for you/your child to become confident with Chemistry!
