The South Florida Language School employed me to teach international classes in 1999. Later, I tutored ESOL students at Indian Hill High School and privately, writing and editing college essays for a company owned by a Chinese woman. My private tutoring business continued to grow to the present time. I have been with WyzAnt for about 7 years.

International students and Americans come to me for reading help. I use the telephone as well as the online conversation methods of teaching. We can begin at any level. You will progress by reading with an audio recording and by practicing reading passages.

Special Needs

Compassion and patience are the most important characteristics of anyone working with special needs students. As a substitute teacher for twenty years (1982-2003), I was placed in many classrooms for the handicapped. Bright Horizons is one of those special schools I was privileged to gain experience in. Sycamore High School was another. Indian Hill Middle School offered integrated classrooms for special needs students. I learned to look beyond the physical and focus on the spirit of a person, meeting that individual where he or she is.

Study skills are not subject-specific. However, when writing a research paper, teaching English as a Second Language or how to pass the Toefl Test, I emphasize study skills. Study disciplines promote success.

Acting has been a part of my life since my teen years. At the University of Cincinnati I performed in several plays while studying Theater, Voice, Broadcasting and Dance. My ambition lead me to compete in the Miss Cincinnati Contest where I placed second. As an Adjunct Professor, I have taught Drama at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Florida. Also, I produced and directed a publicly presented home-school play. Currently, I write theater history manuals and produce videos for the Academy of the Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl.

Vocabulary enrichment is an area I love to teach! We all need to take exams and to communicate well in business. Whatever your goal, I know that my 20 years of experience in teaching gives me the tools to perfect your language skills. I have taught in community colleges, language school and privately. Writing

Whether writing an APA or MLA research paper, an essay, a stage play or a poem, my twenty-plus years of experience will give students what they need to accomplish goals. Some need the basics of how to write a paragraph and develop a thesis. Others, more advanced, will learn how to write and make effective PowerPoint presentations. Creative writers will learn how to use figurative language or write dialogue.

Good for English/Literature (less Ideal for APA Formatting)

The tutor was friendly, patient, and accommodating, especially when internet issues arose, which I appreciated. She provided helpful proofreading and grammar corrections for my research paper. However, I was hoping for more focused guidance on APA formatting and revision, and I found that this session was more suited for general writing. She was a great help for English and literature.
