Hi! I’m Alexis, a career educator and professional tutor with 10 years of classroom teaching experience and more than seven years of one-on-one tutoring experience. I hold a Master of Education in Social Studies Education from the University of Florida, as well as a bachelor’s degree in Sociology.
I tutor students in SAT, ACT, PSAT, AP courses, English, history, psychology, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Florida EOC preparation, SSAT, ISEE, essay writing, and college application essays.
My approach is patient, encouraging, and highly individualized. One of my strengths is figuring out why something is not clicking for a student. If one explanation does not work, I find another. I want students to understand what they are doing, recognize patterns, and become more independent rather than simply memorize steps.
I work with students across a wide range of ability levels, from those who are struggling with foundational skills or confidence to high-achieving students pursuing competitive grades and test scores. For test preparation, I combine content instruction with strategy, teaching students how to recognize recurring question types, eliminate efficiently, manage their time, and make smart use of available tools.
During my classroom career, I served as a department chair and member of my school’s leadership team and was consistently rated Highly Effective.
Most importantly, I want students to feel comfortable saying, “I don’t understand this yet.” My goal is to create a supportive environment where students can ask questions freely, build confidence, and make meaningful academic progress.
Whether your student needs to catch up, strengthen skills, prepare for an important exam, improve a grade, or push an already strong score even higher, I would be happy to help.
