With 20 years of experience in education, I bring a comprehensive perspective to college advising grounded in teaching, academic support, and high school counseling. I began my career as an English teacher and reading, writing, and study-skills tutor before earning my Master’s Degree from Wake Forest University and transitioning into high school counseling.
As a comprehensive high school counselor, my interest in college admissions grew, and for the past several years, I have focused exclusively on college advising. I remain a certified High School Counselor and English Teacher and am an active member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), allowing me to stay current with the evolving admissions landscape and build relationships within the admissions community.
I have guided students through every stage of the college application process, including college list development, applications, and essays. My students have been admitted to highly selective institutions, including Ivy League and Ivy+ universities such as Harvard, Rice, and Georgetown. I also take great pride in helping students with more typical academic profiles discover colleges where they can thrive and approach the admissions process with confidence.
I have extensive experience with the Common Application, UC applications, and ApplyTexas, along with specialized training in brainstorming and developing Personal Statements, Supplemental Essays, and UC Personal Insight Questions (PIQs).
My approach is highly personalized. I help students identify and communicate the experiences, strengths, and perspectives that make them unique—not fit themselves into a formula. My goal is to help each student find best-fit colleges, create an application that authentically highlights their strengths, and craft essays that allow their individual voice and story to shine.
