Hi! My name is Julia S., and I graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a B.S. in Neuroscience with Honors. I am currently a medical student at UCF College of Medicine. Over the past several years, I have worked with students ranging from the high school to undergraduate level in subjects including biology, chemistry, neuroscience, and general science coursework. I have always enjoyed teaching and helping students build confidence in subjects that may initially feel intimidating or overwhelming.
At Johns Hopkins, I worked as a Chemistry TA, where I led review sessions, answered student questions, and worked one-on-one with students to strengthen both their understanding of the material and their study strategies. In addition to formal teaching experience, I have also privately tutored students in various science courses in both classroom and one-on-one settings. My approach focuses on adapting to each student’s learning style and simplifying complex concepts in a way that feels approachable and manageable.
Beyond academic tutoring, I also enjoy mentoring students through the undergraduate and medical school application process. I have experience helping students with personal statements, application essays, activity descriptions, and interview preparation. Having gone through these application processes myself, I understand how overwhelming they can feel and enjoy helping students present themselves in an authentic and compelling way.
