Patient, Effective and Creative Math Tutor (grades 6-12)

I am an experienced educator with 20 years of experience in teaching math. I specialize in all middle school math subjects, as well as Algebra, Geometry and test prep for the ACT and SAT. I have 20 years of experience in small group and private (one on one) tutoring. I currently teach math to over 130 students at a local middle school. I was selected as the Teacher of the Year for my school in the 2024-2025 school year.

I am currently certified in the state of Florida in mathematics and hold an endorsement for teaching gifted students as well. I hold a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Nova Southeastern University.

My methods are creative and I specialize in helping students understand the mathematical "why" they are doing a specific process. My goal is to always make math relatable for students to understand in a real-world context. Often, this includes using examples that may seem humorous or clever, but they are memorable for students to relate to, rather than using an example from a textbook that may seem dated or out of touch with the interests of students today. My goal is always to help students to "Work smart, not hard" which helps them find the most effective tools to solve rather than a long process that they may not understand. My supplements for my clients include notes and videos when need for them to go back and review the content.
