My name is Shelley, and I have a master’s degree in reading, and presently I am a teacher. I am enthusiastic about reading, writing, and language arts. Also, I have experience tutoring an individual student during my time in college and tutoring a small group of six students during my time studying for my master’s degree. Before, I was a substitute teacher for high school, middle school, and elementary, specializing in helping students excel in reading, writing, and language arts. My goal is to help students who may be struggling with reading and language arts to help them strengthen their writing and grammar skills. I would like to be a part of providing additional support to parents in assisting their children to become more confident and capable readers and writers.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in fostering curiosity and building confidence, tailoring lessons to each student's unique learning style. I am eager to help students become independent, resourceful, and confident, and assist them learn the styles of reading and language arts. I also believe in making learning enjoyable for my students. In addition, it is important to have students have the freedom to do firsthand activities, which will make them more comfortable, and with this approach, it will give children/students the anticipation of building their reading and language arts skills. I strongly believe that every child/student can be reached in learning and building his or her reading and English language arts skills.
