I've been an artist for 30 years working in various fields of art and then I was asked to teach art and the rest is history.
I started to teach over 15 years ago at art galleries, art centers, and a private Christian school. I was at first teaching adults, giving them a new hobby and something to enjoy out of life. I was asked by the public school board to be a quest speaker and teach at their schools. That was a start of my teaching career instructing young students. A local school contacted me about applying at as a adjunct art teacher with their school. I worked their for eight years teaching art to K-12 grade school students. My high school students went on to further their art by receiving acceptance letters to prestigious art schools and scholarships as well. I was instrumental organizing their portfolio together and submitting them to the schools. I left there and now I just tutor students in the field of art.
I believe I have more than teaching to offer my students. I can give them the practical aspects of the art fields. I have an art business, One Stop Art Shop.Inc., which allows me to give them the understanding of the business of art and working with the public and employers.
My academic experience has been a live long of learning art. I had a great art program in high school and that's the beginning of my journey in the art world. I attended a local two year college in Illinois to study photography and interior decorating. I went back to school in my later years, studying graphic design and interior decorating at Penn Foster and Ashworth College where I received a diploma.
