Hello! I have been tutoring math for over 15 years, starting with assisting my peers as early as sixth grade and continuing from there. While at UNC, I worked at a local middle school through the America Counts (an AmeriCorps) program. After, I worked for Sylvan Learning Center before moving to a smaller, privately-owned tutoring company. I specialize in high school math courses, from Algebra I/Math I through Calc BC, and have helped a multitude of students excel in their classes over the years.
As for test prep, I have helped prepare students for the SAT and ACT for over 10 years while working at Sylvan Learning Center and a local, Raleigh-area test prep company. I have helped countless students increase their scores to achieve a wide variety of goals, from short-term increases under 100 SAT or 2-3 ACT points to year+ long score increases of 300+ SAT or 8+ ACT points. I will be sure to work with you/your student to determine a realistic score goal and timeline (this may involve diagnostic testing)!
I have continued to be on top of the changes in the test prep industry, especially in recent years. When the SAT made the shift to an online-only test, I was in charge of multiple presentations for both local educational consultants and our own clientele to thoroughly introduce them to the new test in addition to the training for our tutors. I have also kept up with the ACT’s recent changes and what that means for students, and I have continued to engage with other test prep professionals to make sure I know how to best advise my students.
