My career as an educator brought me a lot of joy. It is wonderful to see a student have one of those 'aha' moments where you know a critical concept has been understood and things clicked. I try to give a student the necessary foundation that allows them to build their own critical thinking skills. I like to teach in a style that I found most helpful as a student, utilizing a back-and-forth style to help you achieve your own understanding of the subject matter. If I just spout off information/facts, and don't engage you with the information to form your own critical thinking skills, then the information simply gets regurgitated. That is not what I want for students and shouldn't be what you want either.
While teaching American Government courses over the past three years for a state college, I often worked one on one with students who needed extra help as well as study groups. I also created study programs for students prepping for the Florida Civic Literacy Exam. Reach out if you have questions!
