Hi, I'm Magdalena! I hold a PhD in Biochemistry and a B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in mathematics, and I tutor chemistry, biochemistry, and math.

I know how hard these subjects can feel because I've been there. Hi, I'm Magdalena! I hold a PhD in Biochemistry and a B.S. in Biochemistry with a minor in mathematics, and I tutor chemistry, biochemistry, and math.

I know how hard these subjects can feel because I've been there. As an undergraduate, the mentors who made the biggest difference were the ones who stayed past office hours, broke tough problems into manageable pieces, and helped me push through frustration. I tutor the way they taught me: patiently, with plenty of time for questions, and with an approach tailored to how each student learns.

During my PhD, I taught Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry through lectures, lab sessions, and one-on-one help. That experience taught me to explain complex ideas clearly, to find exactly where a misunderstanding starts, and to build a student's confidence along with their understanding. My research background also lets me show how these concepts play out in a real lab, not just on an exam.

Whether you're preparing for a test, catching up in a course, or aiming to master the material, I'll meet you where you are and help you get where you want to go.

As Marie Curie once said: "Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood."

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I earned a minor in mathematics alongside my B.S. in Biochemistry, and algebra is a tool I've used every day through years of scientific research. I help students master the foundations, including solving equations and inequalities, graphing lines, working with slope, factoring, and translating word problems into equations. Because Algebra 1 is often where students first decide they're "bad at math," I focus on patient, step-by-step explanations that build confidence along with skill. My goal is to give students a solid base that makes Algebra 2, geometry, and every math class after it easier.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I earned a minor in mathematics alongside my B.S. in Biochemistry, and I rely on algebra regularly in my scientific work. While teaching chemistry during my PhD, I helped students work through the logarithms, exponential functions, and equation solving the course depends on, so I know where Algebra 2 concepts tend to trip students up. I break down topics like polynomials, systems of equations, and exponential and logarithmic functions into clear steps, and I show students why each step works, not just what to do. My goal is for every student to leave a session able to solve problems independently and with confidence.
Biochemistry

Biochemistry

I hold a PhD in Biochemistry, and my research on RNA structure and stability, along with hands-on lab work in techniques like chromatography, gives me real-world context for the concepts students learn in class. During my PhD, I taught Biochemistry covering nucleic acids, proteins, metabolism, and core biochemical techniques. I focus on clear explanations, plenty of room for questions, and study strategies built around the topics each student finds hardest. Students leave my sessions with more than answers: they gain the confidence and tools to keep learning on their own.
Biology

Biology

I possess a deep understanding of various topics, including but not limited to cell biology, genetics, and molecular biology. My expertise lies in answering questions, offering explanations, and showing students how to study the topics they struggle with, showcasing a proven track record of transforming students confidence and providing them with studying strategies that help them succeeed. My goal is to engage in natural and informative conversations while supporting the students in their quest for knowledge!
Calculus

Calculus

I earned a minor in mathematics alongside my B.S. in Biochemistry, which gave me a strong foundation in differential and integral calculus. During my PhD, I taught Physical Chemistry, a calculus-based course where I helped students apply derivatives, integrals, and differential equations to real problems in thermodynamics and kinetics. I cover topics from limits and related rates to integration techniques, areas, and volumes of revolution, and I walk students through the reasoning behind each step so they can tackle problems they haven't seen before. Connecting abstract concepts to real applications also helps students see why calculus matters and remember how to use it.
Chemistry

Chemistry

I hold a PhD in Biochemistry and taught Organic Chemistry and Physical Chemistry during my graduate studies, so I can support students from introductory concepts through advanced coursework. I help with core topics like stoichiometry, chemical bonding, equilibrium, thermodynamics, and reaction mechanisms, and my math minor makes me especially comfortable with the quantitative problems many students find intimidating. Years of lab research also let me connect abstract concepts to what actually happens at the bench. I explain each idea step by step, leave plenty of room for questions, and help students build study habits that carry them through exams and beyond.

Magdalena has made a world of difference in our daughter’s understanding of chemistry

Our 16 year old daughter has been struggling to understand the complicated equations in her chemistry class. She watched the recommended videos and paid attention in her online class, but she just couldn’t understand the way it was being taught. Magdalena is so patient and she is able to explain the equations in several different ways until our daughter can understand. The difference in our daughter’s confidence level and in her grades has more than paid for the tutoring sessions.

Great tutor!

Magdalena was such a great find for chemistry. Flexible with her schedule, responds quickly (I love that), and helped my teen son greatly with his homework, along with having a positive disposition. My son asked if we could keep Magdalena in our weekly rotation.

Patient and Helpful

Magdalena really helped clarify the mistakes I did in my work. After our lesson, I felt more confident in my work. She is very nice as well! Thank you, Magdalena.
