Hello, and welcome!

I’m Carly, a certified English tutor, and I’m here to help you achieve your language goals with confidence. With a TEFL certification and a degree earned with honors from the University of South Carolina, I bring both expertise and passion to teaching English as a Second Language (ESL).

I have experience working with students just like you—children, teens aged 10 and up, and adults in one-on-one tutoring sessions and small group lessons. My sessions range from regular, ongoing lessons a few times a week to one-time sessions tailored to specific goals, like practicing conversational English.

My teaching focuses on improving speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in a way that fits your unique needs. Whether you’re preparing for an exam, advancing in your career, or simply wanting to feel more confident in daily conversations, I’ll help you get there. As someone who has learned another language myself, I know the challenges—and the rewards—of the process. That’s why I strive to make each lesson both effective and enjoyable.

I focus on identifying your strengths, challenges, and goals to create interactive, practical sessions. Using real-world examples and conversation practice, I’ll help you build fluency while providing clear, actionable feedback to keep you motivated and on track.

To get started, I offer a free consultation where we’ll discuss your goals and create a personalized learning plan just for you. For scheduling, I kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations, so I can dedicate my time and energy to every student.

If you’re ready to improve your English and feel confident using it in any situation, let’s connect. I’d love to hear about your goals and help you succeed!

Anthropology

Anthropology

I hold a BA in Psychology with Honors and have completed advanced coursework in anthropology, with a strong focus on cultural anthropology, human evolution, and social systems. My interdisciplinary background allows me to connect anthropological theory with broader psychological and sociological perspectives, helping students understand not just what concepts mean, but why they matter. As a published academic researcher in a high-impact journal, I bring strong analytical and writing skills that support students in essays, research assignments, and exam preparation. I specialize in making complex theories clear, engaging, and easy to apply, helping students improve both their understanding and academic performance.
Debate

Debate

I am a debate instructor working with students from beginner to advanced levels, helping them build confidence in public speaking, critical thinking, and structured argumentation. I focus on teaching core debate skills such as case construction, rebuttals, evidence evaluation, and persuasive speaking in a clear and approachable way. My experience includes working with diverse learners to strengthen their ability to organize ideas quickly and communicate effectively under pressure. I tailor sessions to each student’s level and goals, whether they are new to debate or preparing for competitive tournaments.
EMT/ NREMT

EMT/ NREMT

I am a Nationally Registered EMT (NREMT) with hands-on training in emergency care, patient assessment, and life-saving interventions. I specialize in helping students prepare for the NREMT exam by breaking down complex topics—like airway management, trauma, and medical emergencies—into clear, practical steps. My teaching approach focuses on understanding, not memorization, so students can confidently apply concepts in both exams and real-life scenarios. I also provide support with test-taking strategies, scenario-based questions, and building confidence under pressure.
IELTS

IELTS

I am an IELTS tutor specializing in all four sections of the exam: Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening. I help students at a range of levels develop the skills and strategies needed to improve their band scores, with a focus on exam technique, time management, and clear communication. My lessons are structured and personalized, targeting each student’s specific weaknesses while building overall fluency and confidence. I also provide detailed feedback on speaking responses and writing tasks to help students understand exactly how to reach higher band levels.
Public Speaking

Public Speaking

I am a public speaking instructor working with students of all levels, from beginners to advanced speakers. I focus on helping students build confidence, clarity, and presence when speaking in front of others, whether for presentations, academic settings, or professional environments. My lessons cover speech structure, vocal delivery, body language, and strategies for managing nerves under pressure. I tailor each session to the student’s goals, helping them develop a strong, authentic speaking style and communicate ideas in a clear, engaging way.
Sociology

Sociology

I earned my BA in Psychology with Honors and completed extensive sociology coursework, with a strong focus on social inequality, culture, and institutions. As a published researcher in a high-impact academic journal, I bring advanced skills in critical analysis, academic writing, and evidence-based argumentation—key for excelling in sociology. I have experience tutoring diverse learners and specialize in making complex theories (like Marx, Weber, and Durkheim) clear, engaging, and easy to apply. I also support students with essays, research papers, and exam prep, helping them improve grades, think critically, and build confidence in their work.
