Hello! My name is Adam, and I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a minor in Mathematics. During my time at FSU, I developed a passion for helping students understand math and economics and build confidence in their coursework. I worked as a Learning Assistant for a Trigonometry course, helping students work through challenging concepts and problems. I also worked as a one-on-one tutor for college students, including student-athletes, in College Algebra and Economics. These experiences taught me how important it is to adapt my approach to each student's learning style.
My approach is to break complex problems into smaller, manageable steps and explain concepts in multiple ways until a student finds an approach that clicks. For example, I once worked with a College Algebra student who was struggling with their professor's method for factoring. I showed them the FOIL method, which made the concept much easier to understand. That experience reinforced my belief that there isn't always one "right" way to learn something. I want students to understand why a solution works, not just find the answer. I also enjoy connecting concepts to real-world examples, especially in economics. I've always appreciated professors who made their courses more engaging this way, and I try to bring that same approach to my sessions!
Since graduating, I have worked as a Financial Analyst for over a year, using financial modeling, Excel and data analysis, forecasting, and economic analysis in my daily work. I also present findings to business leaders, strengthening my ability to explain complex quantitative information clearly.
I primarily tutor College Algebra, Trigonometry, Precalculus, Microeconomics, and Macroeconomics. My goal is to create a patient, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, learning from mistakes, and building the skills and confidence to succeed independently.
