My passion is teaching children about our world, different cultures, and all subjects (i.e. math, science, language arts, etc.) and to develop the skills needed to succeed in an ever-changing world. In order for the students to become successful they must have experience and practice in thinking and resolving problems. I believe my role is to be a facilitator for this thinking to take place. Furthermore, I believe it is my responsibility to provide a safe non-threatening environment where children feel free to express themselves fully without fear of ridicule.
I have been a student myself all my life. I have a Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Bilingual Education and English as a Second Language and am in pursuit of my School Leadership Certification. I know how important it is to have a good education and I want to give all my students the same opportunities whenever possible.
I have worn different hats being an aide at a high school, teaching third grade in Chicago, and teaching Spanish at the elementary and middle school levels and now I have taught in Florida as well.
All of these diverse teaching opportunities have given me confidence as an educator.
I have English and Spanish certification. I also observed the European Educational System vs the American one. My Mother is from Cuba. I have always appreciated different cultures as well as traveling. I've taken students on trips to Argentina and even Spain. Feel free to text or email before 10 pm any day / night.
