My undergraduate degree is a BS Mathematics, and I have two graduate degrees: an MBA in Finance & Accounting and an MS Ed in Mathematics Education.
My career began in international finance, where I worked in Central Europe and South Asia financing electric power generation. I then worked for a several years in investment management. My focus was primarily on energy and electric utility company equities. At about the midpoint of my career, I left the financial world to teach college mathematics. I found working with people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds both challenging and highly rewarding. Now retired after two decades of being in the classroom, I miss teaching my students and thought that tutoring might provide an opportunity to re-engage.
I taught Mathematics at Nassau Community College, part of the SUNY system, covering topics including remedial math, Statistics, Finite Math, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus and Calculus. My students have consistently given me the highest ratings and I believe that is because of the way I approach teaching. I believe Math can be understood with much greater clarity if it is presented in small, simple steps with immediate practice. This has always been my approach, and it seems to work!
Subjects I am prepared to tutor immediately include any college mathematics from remedial work through Pre-Calculus.
