Hello everyone. My name is Kaylie. I am 26 years old and have been working in the school system for 6 years. Hello everyone. My name is Kaylie. I am 26 years old and have been working in the school system for 6 years. I am currently a 4th grade teacher for a combination classroom which means I teach children who are in their chronological grade level, but I also have students who are cognitively delayed, suffer from learning disabilities, or are easily distracted. My first three years of teaching were with a classroom that were all cognitively delayed and nonverbal. I love teaching/tutoring because I love the challenge of learning each individual and discovering what they're needing in order to succeed. I have always enjoyed the reward of helping children.
I've always taken a liking to English, Grammar, Proofreading, and Vocabulary. What has better helped my skills in this subject area is teaching a very specific curriculum that is very thoroughly detailed in sentence structure, broadening vocabulary, breaking down words, understanding each piece of the word, and then using it correctly. It also involves timing children on their fluency in Reading, meaning not only do they need to read the correct words, but also pay attention to punctuation, pauses, and using different tones at the appropriate times.
I am confident that working with children who need the extra assistance has given me a lot of wisdom on finding new approaches to help children who are struggling to understand. Everyone is capable of learning, just not all in the same way. Please contact me if you feel I would be a good fit for you. I look forward to hearing from you!
