I am an educator at heart. I have worked with a wide range of students at different cognitive levels. I have worked in a special needs preschool for three years and as a speech lecturer for two years, at the college I graduated from. At this position I taught advanced high school students looking to earn college credits and adults at the university level. Math was a field I struggled in at school, I have a dislike for teachers who do not motivate students to appreciate the subject due to their own biases.
I taught poetry 101 and their are five ways to better understand a poem, and read it with the same conviction the author intended. My sister is special needs which gives me a unique understanding of how home life and school life do not always correlate due to routine behaviors at home. I love working with students with special needs because the require a extra little creativity to find the way their personal learning style.
I am willing to work with you to find your personal learning style, talking and learning about your weaknesses and strengths to make you a more confident student of life. There is more than one way to finding a solution. I am currently studying all of the evidence based strategies and practices for individualizing education.
