Excellent Tutor
I have a trip planned for the spring of 2024 to Asia. I do not speak mandarin, so I gave this website a try. I was fortunate enough to come across Duancy as I was reading different tutor profiles. So far, I am 4 lessons in and have enjoyed every minute of them. Mandarin is definitely a challenge to learn, so it is a good thing Duancy is an excellent teacher. I am fortunate that she is fluent in the language and her pronunciation is spot on. She has had to go over more than once certain pronunciations that I have struggled with, but has shown much patience with me. When I have had difficulty getting the pronunciation down correctly, she has used several different methods to help me. By my fourth lesson, things have slowly started to come together, and I felt like I finally made some progress. I would strongly recommend Duancy as a tutor.

Duancy was very proactive in asking for my daughter to send her materials ahead of their lesson so she can be ready for lessons. My daughter enjoys her Chinese lessons with Duancy and feels more confident speaking Chinese now.

Tutor is not using the Wyzant management system correctly
The tutoring session never happened because Duancy D did not enter the session into the calendar to confirm the session. Because the Wyzant calendar was not used, I was not emailed confirmation in advance and the lesson was missed. Unfortunately, Duancy charged me anyway and was unwilling to acknowledge the error.

Duancy is an absolutely fantastic teacher! She has an incredible talent for teaching and is incredibly patient. She also is amazing at explaining things in a way that is easy to understand.

Wonderful Chinese Tutor!
I have two 7th grade boys that meet with Dance each week. She is on-time, prepared and the boys really enjoy her. My boys are already intermediate speakers and they find their sessions with Duancy very enjoying and informative. They are learning while they are having fun. I also like how Duancy will send me notes or items after the session for them to keep working on

Effective and enthusiastic teaching style makes me look forward to lessons
Since I decided to study abroad in China I have been practicing my Mandarin through apps, youtube, and workbooks. However, working with Duancy has been a game changer. I have found that other tutors, while helpful, tend to deemphasize the spoken aspect of the language in their lessons but Duancy flips this on its head and will speak in Chinese for the vast majority of the lesson. After just two 60 minute lessons, I already feel much more comfortable understanding spoken Chinese and can feel my own speaking improving immensely. The speed with which she speaks (which is normal for a native speaker), combined with her enthusiastic teaching style makes me look forward to my classes each week and ~want~ to do homework to show her my own improvement. I genuinely look forward to many more lessons and cannot recommend her enough for those looking to tackle a new language!
