Bio

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Physics at the University of Central Florida (UCF) with several years of experience tutoring physics, mathematics, and computer science. I earned B.S. degrees in Applied Physics and Mathematics from Stockton University, along with a minor in Computer Science, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 3.85/4.0 GPA.

I am a Ph.D. Candidate in Physics at the University of Central Florida (UCF) with several years of experience tutoring physics, mathematics, and computer science. I earned B.S. degrees in Applied Physics and Mathematics from Stockton University, along with a minor in Computer Science, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a 3.85/4.0 GPA.

At UCF, I have worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for undergraduate physics courses, regularly helping students understand difficult concepts, work through problems, and develop stronger problem-solving skills. I also have extensive tutoring experience through Wyzant and previously worked in my university's tutoring center.

My tutoring style is flexible and depends heavily on the individual student. If one explanation is not working, I try to approach the idea from another direction rather than simply repeating it. I frequently use analogies, diagrams, physical intuition, and examples to connect unfamiliar material to things the student already understands. My goal is not just to show you which steps to follow, but to help you understand why those steps work.

I tutor students across a wide range of levels, from high school through advanced undergraduate courses. Subjects I can help with include algebra, precalculus, calculus, differential equations, linear algebra, introductory and advanced physics, classical mechanics, electricity and magnetism, quantum mechanics, and Python programming. I am also happy to help with standardized test preparation.

Approved Subjects

Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I first started Algebra on my own in 4th grade when I picked up an old recycled textbook. Algebra is also a topic that is widely used in my other areas of experience including advanced mathematics, physics, and java programming.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I use Algebra in all math in my physics classes or math classes. The math is more advanced, but Algebra is the core of all Mathematics. I also got two questions wrong on the math section of the SAT (780/800) which is mainly Algebra.
Calculus

Calculus

I learned Calc 1 and Calc 2 entirely through Khan Academy in my senior year of high school, and I took the AP Calculus BC Test at the end of my senior year and achieved a score of a 5. This allowed me to take Calc III in the first semester of my freshman year of college and achieve a grade of an A.
Computer Programming

Computer Programming

I have a minor in computer science and completed many self-motivated projects over the years. These include programming chess from scratch in Java, creating a fully connected Neural Network, recreating mobile games like Flappy Bird, and much more. I also use python frequently for data analysis and visualization in my research. I have also completed internships at national labs such as NIST building a python library.
Computer Science

Computer Science

I have a minor in computer science and have completed many self-motivated projects in java and python. For my work in graduate school, I often run numerical simulations that require general programming knowledge in order to use the specific language needed for the task. I work perform calculations on clusters which requires linux knowledge, and I am in the process of learning C and FORTRAN.

I earned an A in a university-level Data Structures course as part of my Computer Science minor and have previously tutored students in the subject. I am comfortable working with core topics such as linked lists, stacks, queues, trees, graphs, recursion, sorting, searching, and basic algorithm analysis. My background in programming and computational problem solving also allows me to help students connect the theory behind data structures with their actual implementation in code.
Differential Equations

Differential Equations

I earned a B.S. in Mathematics and have used differential equations extensively throughout my graduate studies in physics. I am comfortable with first- and higher-order ODEs, systems of differential equations, Laplace transforms, series solutions, and common solution techniques taught in undergraduate Differential Equations courses. Because differential equations appear constantly in physics, I can also help connect the mathematical methods to the physical meaning behind them rather than treating each technique as an isolated procedure. My goal is to help students recognize what type of equation they are working with, understand why a particular method applies, and carry out the solution confidently.
Discrete Math

Discrete Math

I took Foundations of Mathematics which I got an A in. This is a proof class much like Discrete Math with many of the same topics covered (sometimes in more detail). We covered proofs, set theory, some number theory, and I have studied intro to Finite State Machines on my own, as well as The Pigeon Hole Principle. Since I have an extreme interest in programming, I can explain to students how Languages introduced when explaining Finite State Machines is extremely similar to the idea of Regex in coding. I earned two degrees: B.S. Applied Physics and B.S. Mathematics with a minor in computer science.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Throughout the years I have helped younger kids with their math homework while explaining why they should know what they were learning. Sometimes showing what the math can become is a good way to spark real interest in the subject among young people.

Java

I have taken two semesters of Java in college where I was at the top of my class with grades of over 100% in both semesters because of extra work I did or special optimization of my algorithms that my classmates could not achieve. I have programmed some animations in my spare time through base java (no special IDEs like Processing). I also have code that I would like to submit to Oracle which will allow programmers to receive a random enumeration (much like Random.nextInt() or Random.nextDouble()).

I have a B.S. in Mathematics, a B.S. in Physics, as well as a minor in Computer Science. I deal with parsing logical statements during most of my day and in almost every textbook I have to read.

I completed a B.S. Applied Physics degree and am now enrolled in the PhD. Physics program at University of Central Florida.

This is a fundamental building block for math classes that follow it. I use prealgebra to this day as a PhD. Physics student.

Precalculus lays the building ground for Calculus through more advanced algebra which I am proficient in. I am also proficient in Calculus which allows me to explain things in more depth (maybe introducing what each topic in Precalculus is leading up to).
Python

Python

I mainly picked up python as a hobby, but I have completed a research physics internship where I used python for the entirety of the research. I also direct undergraduate labs that use python to analyze experimental data.
SAT Math

SAT Math

I got two questions wrong on my SAT Math section (780/800) and can finish the math section with minutes to spare which allows time for going back and checking answers. There are subtle tricks that can be used on the math section if you know what the question is trying to ask from a conceptual perspective (i.e. what skill are they testing). My overall SAT score was 1490.
Trigonometry

I have used Trig in nearly every math and physics class in my undergraduate studies and continue to use it in my graduate studies.

I had a very difficult assignment with a rather unsavory professor that I never would have been able to finish alone, but Jayden was both helpful and thoughful in his approach to working with me through the assignment. He knew his stuff and was able to work me into his schedule even if he was busy and even last minute.

Excellent tutor

Jayden is fantastic tutor. I Did not know anything about API’S, however Jayden made sure he explained what an API Is and why they are used. He had a lot of patience with me. I would highly recommend him.
