From Chemical Concepts to Philosophical Arguments | Bilingual Tutor

Gabriela D.

Hello everyone! I’m Gabriela, a tutor with an academic background in Chemistry and Philosophy from UPR Rio Piedras and University of Central Florida (UCF). Former Learning Assistant at Valencia College Math Depot.
I bring complementary perspectives to a shared goal: helping students understand challenging ideas to become independent learners. Whether you’re working through a chemistry problem, need help covering college algebra, or unpacking a philosophical argument, my aim is to make the material approachable without losing its depth.
My tutoring approach is patient, collaborative, and centered on your goals. I aim to be resourceful, efficient, and encouraging. Begin with what you already understand, identify where you feel stuck, and break the next steps into manageable pieces. Through discussion, guided practice, and constructive feedback, we can work toward deeper understanding while keeping the learning process encouraging and purposeful.
In chemistry or mathematics, my approach emphasizes connecting concepts to the reasoning behind each step. Rather than relying only on memorized formulas, we can work on identifying what a question is asking, organizing the information provided, and understanding why a particular method applies.
In philosophy, I focus on close reading, clear reasoning, and thoughtful expression. We can work together to identify an author’s central claims, distinguish premises from conclusions, consider objections, and develop well-organized arguments in your own voice; I can also help you find your writer's voice as well. I want students to feel comfortable asking questions and exploring difficult ideas, not pressured to have every answer immediately.
If you’re looking for support in College Algebra, Chemistry, Spanish, or Philosophy topics, I’d be glad to learn about your course, the topics you’re studying, and what you hope to accomplish. Send me a message with your questions and learning goals so we can discuss whether I’m a good fit for your needs!
